Tsuchiya Koitsu, born in Hamamatsu, Japan in 1870, was a celebrated artist known for his beautiful woodblock prints showing Japan's landscapes and city scenes. He learned from famous artists like Kobayashi Kiyochika, who taught him how to make woodblock prints. Koitsu's prints were loved for their bright colors and careful details, especially his nighttime scenes. These scenes, with their peaceful streets and glowing temples, became very popular. Working with publisher Doi Sadaichi, Koitsu made prints that people around the world admired. He won awards for his art and became famous for his skill in showing light and shadow. Today, Tsuchiya Koitsu's prints are treasured by art lovers everywhere for their beauty and unique style.
